Washa WiFi Launch Brings Affordable Internet to the Mlolongo Community

April 6, 2024 marked a significant milestone in Syokinet Solutions' mission to bridge the digital divide with the official launch of Washa WiFi in Mlolongo.

The launch event was led by Syokinet Solutions CEO Ian Kasyoki, alongside members of the Syokinet team, including representatives from the Network Operations Center (NOC) and Sales teams. The team spent the day engaging with residents, demonstrating the Washa WiFi service, and helping community members get connected.

Throughout the event, Syokinet successfully connected over 200 people to the internet, giving many residents an opportunity to experience reliable and affordable connectivity firsthand. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, particularly from boda boda riders (motorcycle taxi operators) and mama mboga (small-scale fresh produce vendors), who praised the service for its affordability and ease of access.

Many community members shared their excitement after using the service, highlighting how affordable internet access could help them communicate with customers, access information, manage mobile money transactions, and stay connected with family and friends. Their feedback reinforced the importance of making digital connectivity accessible to all.

The successful launch demonstrated that Syokinet is making meaningful progress toward its vision of serving the underserved by providing affordable and reliable internet solutions to communities that have traditionally faced connectivity challenges. The entire day was dedicated to connecting, educating, and interacting with the Mlolongo community, creating valuable conversations around the role of internet access in everyday life.

Since its launch, Washa WiFi has continued to expand its reach and impact. Today, the service is available at five additional locations, extending affordable internet access to even more communities while remaining true to its core purpose of bridging the digital divide.

Looking ahead, Syokinet plans to further expand the Washa WiFi initiative into remote and underserved areas, including schools. By bringing affordable connectivity to educational institutions, the company aims to empower students and teachers with access to digital learning resources, online research tools, and educational opportunities that can help shape a more connected future.

As Washa WiFi continues to grow, Syokinet remains committed to its mission of ensuring that no community is left behind in Kenya's digital transformation journey.
